Encounters Of Adventure Presented By Kilimanjaro Safari

Encounters Of Adventure Presented By Kilimanjaro Safari

by Douglas Rathbone

Taking a Kilimanjaro Safari presents a fantastic means of exploring the highest mountain in Africa. Despite the height which reaches 19,340 feet above the level of the sea, it can still be accessed even by non-specialist mountaineers. Chances of encountering interesting wildlife are quite high when taking the walk to the peak. It also offers you an excellent way to test yourself as you enjoy an adventurous side to Africa.

The mountain is situated in Tanzania, an East African country which borders Kenya. The mountain has volcanoes which are known as Mawenzi, Shira and Kibo. Different climatic conditions will be experienced as one takes a journey to the top.

Climbers start their journey at the rain forest, and then they will go through heath land, moors, alpine desert and glaciers. They will meet different kinds of wildlife in every single zone except the peak. This will allow the climbers to also encounter a variety of mammals such as the elephant and the buffalo on slopes appearing on the northern part of the mountain.

In the available forests, visitors will be in a position to see monkeys, white and black Columbus including Sykes monkeys which live here. Birds are available in plenty and the mountain hawk can be spotted soaring overhead. Some other species which will be seen include ravens as well as sun birds.

Back in the day, no one ever thought the mount was particularly accessible. Not even native Chagga people who live in the region at the bottom were ever successful when it came to climbing it. Their tribesmen who attempted to scale the mountain either gave up because of frostbite or other severe conditions they developed. This changed the moment Ludwig Purtscheller together with Hans Meyer successfully became the very first people to reach the summit in 1889. One was a mountaineer of Austrian origins while the other was a geographer from Germany respectively.

Almost any individual can engage in the climb. One will only be required to be fit physically. If you can accomplish a run for 30 minutes with very little effort then the ascent will not present many challenges. Proper footwear together with right clothing is necessary. With these one will get protection from harsh conditions.

The kind of nature found at the mount gives the climbers a good opportunity in the form of Kilimanjaro Safari more so for people who are willing to take the adventurous trek. About 15,000 visitors climb it every single year. They often view it as a memorable experience.
