Amusement Parks and Hot Spots in Houston

by Steve Bullet

There such a lot of things to do in Houston you're sure to have non stop fun. The following list is simply a small sampling to get you going on all of the great journeys to be had in Houston.

Splashtown Waterpark

This one is open from May to Sep every year. Splash City is a great spot to visit if you love water and fun. There are that many kinds of rides available. There's the Stingray Racer, the longest and biggest 6-lane Octopus Racer in Texas. The RipQurl lets you in a tunnel where you travel up to 26 feet per second before traveling around steep, racing turns. For more high speed adventure, try the Thunder Run and the Tornado. Unadventurous folks can hire a cabana for the day and pretend they're at a complicated resort while the kids splash away on the opposite side of the park.

Sarofim Hall

If you're looking for first-class stage entertainment in Houston, then you have to see what's playing at Sarofim Hall. It has the ambiance of classic European and Broadway theaters sparing nothing but including all of the style and beauty. The walls of the theater are a rich midnight blue with has gold leaf columns and detailed latticework and features the Joe and Lee Jamail Celestial Dome Ceiling. It shines with more than 2,000 stars that emulate the night sky surprising you with a shooting star each 5 minutes. This fantastic facility includes an orchestra and a mezzanine with upper studio seating. Some of the top shows in the country can be experienced in this fantastic location.

The Houston Zoo

The Houston Zoo could make even Doctor Doolittle the most happy animal lover on earth. Only one of the tours includes a 1 hour tour of The African Forest and in the background visits with cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, and chimps. You will enjoy the Kipp Aquarium, the dinosaurs, elephants, the birds exhibit and the exhibit for mammals. There are even reptiles, amphibians and "Natural Encounters" for the brave ones among us. Take an excellent tour or appear and vanish as you wish on your own agenda. You are guaranteed a wild time.

Houston's Museum District

The city doesn't just have one or two museums; it has got a full museum district. This is really one of the hot spots in Houston. There are no less than 16 Museums and Art Galleries in this one area alone. If you like culture, this is probably one of the best things to do in Houston. Visit the Buffalo Soldiers Nationwide Museum or the special Children's Museum. Included in this area, you will find the Contemporary Arts museum, the Holocaust Museum and the Houston Zoo. There's even a center for Photography and the Museum of Natural Science. It'll be up to you to take a pick of the Art galleries also. With such a lot of things to do in Houston, you'll be wanting to stay forever!
