Just because it's one of the most famous islands in Greece doesn't mean you won't be able to enjoy plenty of alone time in Crete. Head to the Venetian Fortezza - a key piece of the history of Crete - to really restore the romance. Designed to deflect cannon fire, the huge fortress was built in the late 1500s. You can make the most of the peace and quiet whilst exploring the Greek Orthodox Chapel, which is a wonderful place to wander.

The Palace of Knossos is another great place to escape to and explore in Crete. You'll get a great sense of the labyrinthine nature of the architecture, as large parts of the palace have been reconstructed, including the walls, floors, columns and windows.

If you're looking for somewhere to while away a few hours in the evening if you've had enough of exploring, Crete has some truly amazing restaurants where you can share a bottle of wine and reconnect over good food and good conversation.

For couples looking for a good time in Crete, Taverna Kostas is a must visit. Not only is the food sensational but the atmosphere is also something you'll remember. This is a great place to go for a date and infuse a little fun into your romantic holiday. Guests are even given the opportunity to take on Greek tradition and smash plates from time to time!

Magical Malta is a fabulous destination if you're looking to restore the romance in your relationship, the best part undoubtedly being the beach. Due to the island's small size, you are never far away from the sea in Malta and areas such as St Julians and Sliema are consistently popular with tourists looking for sun, sand and sea. For something more remote however, you should head over to Ghadira Bay and climb the rocks for a little privacy.
