Luxury Tours To Peru And Galapagos Tailored To Unique Needs

by Emilia Canale

Luxury tours to Peru and the islands of the Galapagos of Ecuador have worlds of unique experiences in one trip. Peru has ancient historical ruins blended with coasts, rain forests, deserts and Andes mountain ranges. The Galapagos is a very different experience, with small islands close to the mainland of Ecuador in the Pacific ocean.

Snuggled in the Andean mountains travellers will find a host of historical sites built by the Inca tribe. Just a short distance from the main city of Cuzko, Machu Picchu is the place to view the ruins. It can be reached by train, and on board tourists are treated to a brunch. The area is a spectacular ancient city made from stone blocks.

Some say Machu Picchu is a religious tribute. Others say it was nothing more than a sanctuary for the tribe. It has a square, houses and warehouses connected by roads and steps. Those who stay at a nearby lodge can return there when the crowds have dispersed to view the ruins alone. It's said that this is the best way to experience them.

The sacred Inca valley of Urubamba can be visited close to Pisac. Pisac is a bustling market managed by the locals. It's a unique shopping experience featuring the wares of locals. The leaders of the nearby areas dress in their traditional garb for a mayoral meeting each Sunday. Inca ruins are dotted in many places near Cuzco, and Ollantaytambo is spoken of most often.

The tomb of Sucre is in the Old Town but access is sometimes limited. There is a 16th century Spanish town to view in the area, as well as a beautiful Jesuit church called La Compania. It has been restored to all its original beauty.

The islands feature plenty of naturalist experiences as well as luxury hotels and sea life. Bartolome Island has its own active volcano and in its locale tourists will spot lava bombs and splatter cones. The habitat is dry and fairly absent of wildlife.

The Tower Islands are known as the most beautiful of all of Ecuador's islands. It has a forest crowded with birds and a coral beach. The Great Frigate is its most impressive resident, with a huge red bill which it blows up astoundingly.

James Island is an optimal area for snorkeling and deep sea diving. There are octopi, starfish and other sea life to see in the tide pools. Visitors will also see the algae covered iguanas during low tide. Grottoes are home to sea lions, which are no longer an endangered species.

The Galapagos' newest island is Fernandina. There are many marine iguanas in the area. Sea lions also dwell here. It, too, has a volcano that's still active and the results of its activity will be seen by visitors.

Santa Cruz provides a spectacular experience. Giant tortoises arrive in one area between June and January. Luxury tours to Peru and the Galapagos Islands can be tailored to suite each individual's preferences.
