The 1950s was a time when people were still recovering from the economic aftermath of the Second World War. Themes of nature and animals inspired many of the designs in this time. Birds, beetles and flowers made beautiful pieces in brooches and pins. Images like ballerina dancers and fruit created a glamorous appeal. Geometrical patterns set with diamonds gave a sophisticated impression. Cocktail jewelry was a prominent trend among people attending cocktail parties. Rings with big gemstones looked very attractive around a woman's finger.
