Almost every little girl has some pretty amazing fantasies, of which some may include the mystical creatures of unicorns. The same is true for boys, but they are generally more into other things. Play-play unicorns are often intended for girls as well, as their colors are girly purples and pinks. A little girl will love a plush unicorn as a birthday present, and if her party is of a similar idea, it will be fantastic.

Unicorns look similar to horses, with four legs, a neck, mane and tail, but with one main difference. Their large horn. The magical animal was thought to have lived in forests, out of sight from most, and to be a wild creature that could not be tamed. Many have believed the horn of the animal to have special powers, able to heal the sick and turn poison into a harmless substance.

Even though there are so many stories about unicorns, no one really knows if they ever existed. The fantasy of them, however, is completely enchanting for a child. Most little girls delight in the idea of riding a horned horse, or even having one as a pet. A birthday party of unicorns would therefore be such fun.

Starting with the gift, stuffed animals in the form of unicorns come in all sizes, and several colors. They may have gold or silver horns, and can be decorated with colored rainbows or stars. They could have accessories with them as well, or something extra can be purchased separately. A brush for the mane and tail is a great idea. The gift can be personalized as well, embroidered, or embossed with the child's name and any other appropriate detail. This will make it extra special.

Around the party room, mystical creatures cut out of paper can be exciting, and plenty of trees and flowers should also be added. This will create an enchanted forest look. Large colored cloths could act as wall coverings, or could be used as the night sky, especially if they are decorated in flowers and stars.

For a darker effect, you can block out the sunlight and hang lights instead. If they can be turned low it will create a lovely night-time forest look. You can even use lights with a setting to flash, for extra appeal.

Make sure that unicorns are dancing all over the special birthday table. Accessories such as hats, cups, plates, boxes and napkins are available from most stores, and you can find some in a suitable theme. The tablecloth can be plain-colored, or decorated similarly. Have a smart unicorn cake as well. Ice-cream cones also make good horns, so perhaps the children could create their own horns, using chocolate, frosting, small sweets and other fun things.

For a special surprise, hire a couple ponies 'disguised' as unicorns, for the children to ride on, and play some games. A toy horned horse can be passed from child to child until the music is turned off. The child caught with the horse must sit out.
