Great Botanical Gardens in New Orleans

New Orleans is a town full of rich history and culture and includes a good selection of fauna and flora for its visitors and locals to experience. The Big Easy is home to many parks and gardens where travelers can view the best plants flowers and trees this unique this beautiful and unique city has to give.

New Orleans Botanical Gardens

Once known as the City Park Rose Garden, the New Orleans Botanical Garden first opened in 1936 as New Orleans' first classical garden open to the general public. Today it is still one of the few examples left of New Orleans gardens designed during the Art Deco period that defined the southern coast. In the early 1980s the park was re-opened under its current name. Here you will find over 2000 different sorts of plants from all around the globe. Additionally on these grounds you will find the Conservatory of the Two Sisters, The New Orleans Important Train Garden Yakumo Nihon Teien Japanese Garden and a huge variety of other rose shrub and perennial gardens.

Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden

There are a few attractive and unique gardens in New Orleans and the sculpture garden is essentially one of them. The 5 acre garden borders the New Orleans Botanical Garden and sits behind the Museum of Art. Over 60 sculptures are on view featuring artists from around the globe. As well as the stunning sculptures you'll be prepared to take in the perspectives which includes two hundred year old live oak trees covered in Spanish moss and a variety of magnolias and camellias.

Audubon Park

Audubon Park is one of New Orleans great public parks. It is in Consequential uptown and is an intensely well-liked park for fun pursuits, as well as simply a great spot to relax and enjoy nature. This New Orleans public park features a 1.8 mile trail excellent for walking or jogging picnic tables play areas tennis courts football fields and more.

Washington Artillery Park

Located across from Jackson Square, Washington Artillery Park shows appreciation to the oldest military unit in the US, the 141st Field Artillery of the Louisiana State Guard. Mounted canons represent those employed in the civil war. The area around Washington Artillery Park contains gardens and pretty stream views.

Longue Vue Gardens

One of the most lovely and ceaselessly changing gardens in New Orleans are the Longue Vue Gardens. The gardens feature fourteen different areas, each built to amaze travelers. Travelers can spend an entire day enjoying each area of the gardens. From Oak Street with its glorious southern live oaks, to the choice of azaleas, magnolias, fountains and pools featured on the grounds, this garden is a stunner you won't soon forget. Long Vue will definitely go on your list of noteworthy gardens in New Orleans.

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve

Jean Lafitte is essentially a grouping of parks and a nature preserve which have been designed to illustrate the story of the persona of the Big Easy. Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve features exhibits highlighting the history of the New Orleans. A highlight is Barataria Preserve, which is made up of paved and unpaved trails that wind through the bayou where visitors will encounter marshes, swamps, and plenty of animal life.
