Things To Consider When Engaging Marquees

by Miguel Rivera

The desire to protect privacy is only one among many reasons people would want to hold their events outside of their homes. Other reasons include security and the need to accommodate many people. Hiring marquees enables one to hold a function outdoors in a sheltered place.

Long before these tents were introduced into the system, holding an outdoor function such as wedding receptions, family parties as well as any other special event, was complicated. There was a lot of uncertainty with the function as an unexpected change in weather could result in bad turn out. Organizers of outdoor events were left with the option of moving them indoors or abandoning them until the weather was right.

Tents mounted outside with side openings were invented to eliminate the problem. They're easy to setup and dismantle. These provide shelter from strong sunshine or rain. If need arises, you can zip up the sides to form enclosed structure. The tents are efficient as they are durable and easy to transport.

When hiring one or several of these, there are certain things that you need to look out for. The first thing to look out for is the apparent age of the tent. You should ensure that you avoid old and run down tenting. This is because it not only affects the aesthetic appeal of your function but also because the ability of the tent to hold up in event of unexpected weather change is dependent on it.

The second thing to take into account is the strength of the structure. Outdoor structures are at the mercy of weather changes and patterns. Structures needs to be able to stand winds and rain. It should protect the occupants from most of the undesirable weather such as strong sun and winds. The structure includes the supporting frame work. This frame is mostly metallic. It should be sturdy. A weak frame may fail to hold the weight of the tarpaulin covering especially if it rains. This may result in the structure tumbling down and may cause injury to occupants. It is therefore very important to check any structure for strength.

The third thing to consider is transportation. If the venue for your function is far off, you have to know the way the tents can be delivered to the location. You also need to figure out how the tents will be brought back after the event is over. Usually, the company hiring out the tents is supposed to be the one making these arrangements.

Finally, you should consider the cost when engaging a marquee. The cost of hiring a tent should be within your budget and above all it should be reasonable. If you find the cost to be too high, either choose to hold the event in open air or look around for a cheaper tent. Marquees are supposed to be facilities thus they shouldn't hold the event hostage.
