Peru is situated in South America on its western side. It is about fifteen hundred miles long and borders the Pacific ocean. Numerous individuals select Peru vacations when arranging their annual getaway. This is due to the fact that the country boasts numerous intriguing characteristics, making it the ideal destination for a pleasant and memorable trip.

The country features three distinctive sections, separated by the Andean mountain terrain. Following the coastline is the western region which is quite arid, while the mountainous part of the country is centrally located. The eastern zone is made up of forested slopes, which eventually lead to the plains of the Amazon.

Something that fascinates many South America visitors is the fact that this country was where the Incan Empire began. Those who enjoy architecture and history, and examining ancient ruins, will discover that a sojourn in this area is both a fascinating and mystical experience. Shared with Bolivia is Lake Titicaca, one of the most renowned sites Peru can boast. It is also the highest lake in the world.

A high number of travelers come to this area each year for the purpose of hiking the infamous Machu Picchu trail. This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South America, and a favorite of hiking fans around the world. There is also a vast array of alternatives for individuals who prefer a city atmosphere when vacationing, such as the cities of Trujuillo, Lima, and Arequipa.

An impressive variety of wildlife species are found throughout the country's coastal area, especially on the Galapagos Islands. Peru's Amazon region is also a perfect location for wildlife fans. Certain vacationers enjoy traveling the length of the Amazon River, which runs from the lovely city of Iquitos to Lima.

Travelers may also wish to consider Tambopata, which is a popular Peruvian getaway destination. Many visitors call it the "Paradise of the Amazon Basin". Its biodiversity is virtually immeasurable according to most environmentalists, and it is home to 170 mammal species, 1200 butterfly species, and 67 reptile species. It features a tropical landscape which has largely remained unspoiled throughout the years.

Cuzco is another fantastic Peruvian getaway destination. It is South America's oldest city to be continually inhabited with humans since the first ancient civilizations. It boasts friendly residents, outstanding scenery, and a diversified culture. However, it is what is referred to as a high altitude city, the latter of which feature very thin air. Individuals who are not conditioned to altitudes of this type should consider stopping in other cities along the way that are located on lower terrains and gradually working up to high altitude cities like Cuzco.

The nation also has a wide selection of attractions such as museums for individuals who want to learn more about the country's culture and history. Peru vacations can be arranged through a conventional travel agency or booked online, and essentially any season offers pleasant temperatures in this part of South America. Personal preferences vary, but virtually anyone will discover that a Peruvian vacation is an unforgettable event.
