Among all the spectacular holiday destinations, many vacationers remember Bintan Islands as a great place for a multitude of reasons. Scuba diving, water skiing and snorkeling are the sports on offer here. People come to this place for relaxing on the beach or just sunbathing. Bintan on the eastern side has the beach group Trikora. When one travels to this place one will find the one goes through Teluk Kawal a fishing village and then past Kangka Kawal a smallish town.

The place is rich in marine life and loaded with water sports of all kinds. There are many kinds of sea turtles, squids, oysters and snails found here. People get to see green turtles or even dolphins by just being there. Tourists find Bintan Islands' underwater treasure trove of sea life very exciting to film and make documentaries about. One will find tourists doing what they all love to do and that is to take part in the water activities but one could find the traveler who visits islands one after the other.

Tourists who island hop will find these islands very pleasant to indulge in. There are many tour packages which have special destinations such as tourists spots built into them. Sites that have old buildings and mean something culturally are of significance to the tourists more than shopping for artifacts in the market place. The island chain of Riau has its capital at the city of Tanjung Penang. Bintan is a part of this island chain. Being very close to the main island of Singapore, the place provides the escape hatch for the Singaporeans to relax and unwind here. Littering is not punishable and smoking is also allowed in all the places. One can find markets all over the place and the prices are not too high. The monument Raja Haji-Fisabilillah is now looked on as a world precious one and plans are afoot to have it included in the overall world list.

Golfing courses, spas, local temples dating back to the ancient times, and beaches made for the sun lovers make Bintan Islands one of the best ideas for vacationing. The Bandar Telani-Bentam ferry on the northern side is best for the passengers who are from Singapore. The airport is only at Batam Island but one will find regular boat-ferry services to nearby islands like Bintan resorts and Bintan. There are two monsoons and the climate is typical tropical kind. The monsoon season begins by November and finishes by March while the next one begins by June and runs on till October.

The China-India trade route which passes close to the Bintan Islands makes them important as a stopover point. Electricity generated using generators and drinking water is supplied by the resorts to the local people. Tourists however are fascinated by the wildlife that is present in plenty in the form of Hawksbill turtles, silver-leaf monkeys, eagles, sunbirds and kites. Sea turtles find this place attractive and only one of the seven existing varieties can be found at a different place worldwide.
