Berlin On A Budget

Berlin On A Budget

by Adrian Fletcher

Okay, let's face it, taking a trip to Berlin does not come cheap. You will must pay for your ticket, not to mention wherever it is that you will be staying. So if you are vacationing to Berlin but are on a budget, here are a couple tips that are certainly going to help you out. So go ahead and dive right in.

Reichstag

Reichstag, the parliament of the German Empire is another spot that you can go to.It was burned down way back in 1933 but was then restored with a hip and cutting-edge twist. Now you may see that it has a huge glass dome. You could in fact walk to the very top instead of taking the elevator. Unlike the plain old stairs you might imagine, here you have a spiral glass walkway that offers a 360 degree view of the city, complete with viewing platforms for your viewing pleasure. You positively want to pack your camera and a big bottle of water.

The Berlin Wall

Go and see the Berlin Wall, or at least what is left of it. The longest stretch left of this great wall is the Eastside Gallery. The wall that once separated the east and west is now covered in interesting art. Then, what really makes this area interesting is that all of the pieces have a certain meaning or story. You will find images of certain icons, abstract art, and of course, the occasional graffiti here and there. Now, you really should really make the time to drop by, after all, it won't even cost you a single cent.

Holocaust Memorial

You can also visit the Holocaust Memorial for free. Even though you have already heard the stories and read up on the history, none of that compares to in fact walking through the five acres recognized as the Holocaust Memorial. Aside from this haunting landscape, you could also check out the underground information center where you may actually see a list of the names of the known victims, as well as tributes to over 6 million Jews.

Tiergarten

If you want something that is more relaxing, Tiergarten is certainly the area to be. Hunting ground turned park, this place is spectacular with gardens, lawns, and lakes. If you don't want to spend, then you really should pack your own lunch and have a picnic, however, there are numerous little cafes that are really inviting. You will must spend for the cafe, but entrance to the park is free.
