Aside from the US, catfishing is also becoming popular in many countries including Canada and many countries in Asia. Aside from being a good and tasty meal, catfish can also be found in both freshwater and saltwater and catching them is also fun and easy to do and these are just some of the reasons why a lot of people have chosen to enjoy catfishing. Because of their barbell or cat-like whiskers, which are used for sensory purposes, catfish are easy to identify and distinguish among any other fishes. Most people choose to catch catfish instead of other kinds of fishes because it is easy to do because of the many available baits that they can make use when catfishing. Chicken liver, shrimp, frogs, sucker minnows are among the mostly used catfishing baits.

Catfish are easy to find and it is easy to find a good location to do catfishing because most catfish are found in freshwater. The following are some tips that may be helpful in order for you to catch catfish easier:

-Early fall and spring are good times to do catfishing because of the rising of the water as a result of either autumn rains or melting of snow.

-Catfish are known t be more active during the night and less active during the night. Most experts in catfishing recommend that you do your catfishing during dusk to be able to catch more catfish.

-Catfishing may also be done during summer but make sure to do it at night because catfish tends to be groggy and slow moving during this time which is an effect of the warm water.

-Side banks, base of dams, hollowed stumps, around fallen trees and sink holes on the water floor are common places where catfish love to lurk.

-Be sure that you will make little to no noise especially if you are doing your catfishing at night since there are not daytime noises to cover up the noise you make.

-Prior to catfishing, it is important that one knows information about catfish like the different types of catfish, the baits that attracts them easily and the habitat of the different types of catfish. These information are vital in the success of your catfishing.

-Live baits that wiggle and produce water vibrations easily gets the attention of the catfish that is why it is necessary that you use a live bait especially when you plan to do your catfishing in still water like lakes and ponds.

-Upon choosing what bait to use, it should be remembered that catfish tends to be more attracted to baits that are fresher.

-When your hook is already in the water, try to make no movements if possible and make sure to keep the hook down on the water. After 12 minutes and nothing happens, try to look for other area which you think is a good place that catfish may lurk or hide.
