How To Minimize Stress When Traveling With Infants

How To Minimize Stress When Traveling With Infants

by Katherine Wong

Your husband came home one night enthusiastically announcing that he was selected as the company's representative for a very significant business event in Singapore. And aside from that, you'd be accompanying him because he knew how much you like cityscapes which are quite a popular sight in Singapore.

Of course, you'd feel proud of your husband and feel happy for how his career is turning out. And at the same time you'd feel excited about the idea of going to one of the cities you've been eyeing to visit for quite sometime now.

So you agreed. Your plan seemed perfect. Your husband would attend the event and after that the two of you would spend two more days to tour around the city.

Travel plans however can never be perfect. There are certain factors that you need to consider like bringing your kids on this trip.

If you want to bring them, too, you may find these tips useful particularly when traveling with an infant:

Book a trip that is scheduled around nap times. You'd refrain from making unnecessary movements when your child is sleeping the entire trip.

Put at least two clothes for you and your baby in a separate bag, or in a more accessible compartment in your travel bag.

Keep a pacifier, bottle, or drink handy for take-offs and landing. It can help distract babies in case they feel anxious because of the sudden change in pressure.

Consider buying car or seat strollers. Holding a baby in an airplane is dangerous, especially for take-off and landing and when unexpected severe turbulence occurs.

Don't forget to bring toys especially those your child cannot sleep without.

You may also consider booking car rental services especially for airport transfer. Juggling babies and bags is for sure inconvenient, not to mention the need to look after your bags and to wait in line to get a taxi. But all these can be avoided when there's a vehicle waiting for you at the airport. While your husband's company may have booked a car from a limousine services Singapore company, you may also look for a bigger and more practical option for your personal trips. One example is hiring a maxicab Singapore car rental companies offer to group travelers.
