Situated at the north western extremity of the North American mainland, Alaska borders the Yukon and British Columbia in Canada to the east, the Arctic Ocean to the north and the Gulf of Alaska and the Pacific Ocean to the west and south. The Alagnak River or the Kenai Peninsula are good places for anglers and eco-tourists to indulge in their preferred leisure pursuits. Hiking, hunting and camping are all available to those seeking an Alaskan adventure.
Different seasons bring different attractions to various parts of the area. Each spring, birdwatchers can find the greatest concentration of American Bald Eagles anywhere in the world on the Stikine River. Another annual event is the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Fall is the best time to find polar bears in the area. Visitors can see the sights of the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, at over 16 million acres it is the largest in the world. The Tongass National Forest is the biggest in America.
