A Summer Visit to Algarve

A Summer Visit to Algarve

by Joshua Thomas

When Algarve is mentioned, you automatically think of beaches marked with spots or rounded patches from sun, hidden behind mountainous or hilly sections of the country, golden-sand beaches pocked by rock formations. Algarve, deemed to be the jewel of Portugal, is famous for its sun-drenched shores. People deem Algarve as unhurried, relaxed and atmospheric, but with the regions rich Portugese culture, it invites you to extend your stay. It is some sort of a melting-pot where tourists can easily become adjusted to life, locally. It's a city exploding with a lot of people who are fun-loving and who poses busy night lives, which are more prominent in locals rather than in tourists. Algarve is known to house a number of ancient churches and museums, and parks are picturesque, serene and shadowed by its trees. Cafes, local markets and modern malls, filling the streets, are ideal for shopping. Quaint little piazzas lead to an attractive marina. Resorts and restaurants dot along the coastline. The region is proud of its golf courses designed expertly. Without a doubt, Algarve is number one on everyone's top holiday destinations lists.

Designing an Algarve Holiday

Are pristine white beaches and an upbeat nightlife your preference? Albufeira definitely has a lot to offer in its treasure trove. It was once an attractively unusual, old-fashioned fishing village, Albufeira, is now teeming with holiday magic while keeping much of Algarve's old charms. It is a combination of sun-drenched beaches and an upbeat nightlife. Serene coves jut behind cliffs found in the golden shores of Praia d'Oura. Local gypsy markets come out every fortnight, displaying their fare of pottery and jewellery. You can spot local fishermen looking after their boats down at the beaches, or you can also choose to go down to the beach yourself and enjoy a horde of water-related sports. Albufeira is the choice destination for last minute holidays.

Once a fishing village, Carvoeiro lost none of its charms. Pocketed in a sensational coastline, this little town is in the middle of a village square, where one can find open-air cafes that looks out to rainbow-colored fishing boats in the ocean. A few steps up ahead, then you start feeling the sand on your toes and enjoy Carvoeiro's pristine white beaches, that are hidden behind cliffs jutting out from the bay. The other side of the village is where whitewashed lanes dappled with quaint souvenir shops and affable bars are found, waiting to be explored. Local dishes are served in restaurants that are found in abundance. But if you choose to create your own meal, there's a local produce market around, too. Whatever it is you're doing in Carvoeiro, you will find yourself hooked in the region.

The only problem you might encounter. when planning a luxury holidays to Algarve, is making a decision on where to stay. What you might be interested more in might be the amenities the hotel has to offer. Scattered along Algarve's coastline are hotels where style and pampering are primary. Algarve's wide selection of hotels won't disappoint you, no matter what you're looking for. You will find that the hotel rooms are transformed into paradise after indulging in luxury the entire day.

An Algarve holiday means dining in the open air in sun-bathed cafes, look around in peculiar little shops, indulge in an aimless wander in town or loaf around the sandy shores. Algarve's tropical climate is responsible for all these and visiting in mainland Portugal's most southern regions ensures you of a shining sun as much as staying in deluxe hotels in Greece.
