It showcases the rich history of the people of Israel, and exposes travelers to many kinds of religions that exist in the state. Being the capital of Israel, many tourists flock to Jerusalem to see its unique cultural heritage, historical background, and religious beliefs. There are many places to visit to know more about how Israel came to be, and how it plays an important role in history.

At the top of the list of things to see in Israel are its churches; all three of the world's major religions are practiced in Jerusalem. For a fascinating trip across time, visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Christ died on the cross and was ultimately buried, in the Christian quarter of the Old City. Visit the Hurva Synagogue, once renowned as one of the greatest synagogues in Israel, in the Jewish quarter for a piece of Jewish history. Only Muslim visitors are permitted to visit the mosque and the Dome of the Rock, but travelers can easily get their fill of Muslim history by visiting the nearby museums.

There are a large number of museums in Jerusalem. Each museum in the capital focus on various topics. For example, the Time Elevator museum speaks about the general history of Jerusalem whereas Ammunition Hill Memorial museum speaks about the War of 1967 that lasted for six days. Numerous people died in that war and this museum recollects the bravery and sacrifice of the people, who lost their lives. The Western Wall museum is famous for its holy history and is worth visiting. It is located at Jewish Quarter in the old City. There are many museums in Jerusalem, which have different topics in focus. The Time Elevator provides information about general history of Jerusalem. Information regarding Six Day war of 1967 can be got from the Ammunition Hill Memorial. The Western Wall in the Jewish Quarter should be visited for its holy history.

To see something new and different tourists can go to the Independence Park with beautiful landscapes, the Botanical Gardens, the Gilo Park and the Liberty Bell Gardens. Both adults and kids love to see the animals of Biblical Zoo.

Moreover, the parliament building also called, as "the Knesset" is also a place to visit without fail. From this building one can simply view and judge the political side of Jerusalem.

Other historical sites to visit include the Garden Tomb, which is believed to be the place where Christ was buried. The Garden of Gethsemane is located just outside Jerusalem walls. It is known as the place where Christ sought for help and prayer during his trying times. Many olive trees can also be seen in the garden.

Jerusalem is not stranger to shopping sites, as there are many souvenir shops located in different areas. Some popular destinations include the Nahalat Shiva in West Jerusalem, the Souq in Jaffa Street, and Brasserie in Ein Kerem.

Jerusalem is a wonderful tour spot for any kind of person. It is a versatile place with rich and ethnic places. It will give immense pleasure to a person who room there.
