Are you looking for a nice location for your Vietnam holidays? Hue was unified Vietnam's capital from 1802 to 1945, during the rule of the emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty. It was not only the political but also the cultural and religious centre. The imperial citadel used to be comparable to Beijing's Forbidden City, but most of it was destroyed during the bloody fighting which followed the Tet offensive in 1968. It is still an interesting sight, as a increasing number of buildings are being restored.

How to get there

From Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City - take the overnight bus/train to Hue. Either way, you can stop by this place as a transit in between the two more famous cities. From Phu Bai Airport (15km from the city) you can fly to/from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

What to do and see.

Hue Riders: After experiencing the beautiful city of Hue from the back seat of a couple of motorbikes - really fun and exhilarating and, on occasion, terrifying you head on to Hoi An It's about 150 kilometres from Hue but the trip would take you most of the day as there are few stops planned along the way.

Tomb of Khai Dinh: Breathtaking in its ornate glass and porcelain opulence, this emperor's tomb is one of the area's most flamboyant attractions. Emperor Khai Dinh (1885-1925) ruled Vietnam for 9 years. His tomb took 11 years to complete. Construction began in 1920 and was completed in 1931.

Accommodation

Thanh Thao Hotel Thanh Thao Hotel has 21 rooms equipped with air-conditioners, bathrooms, bathtubs, hot & cold water, mini-bars, satellite television and IDD telephones. The rooms come with pleasant balconies overlooking the street.

La Residence Hotel & Spa : La Residence Hotel & Spa is brilliantly located on the river banks of the Perfume River in the center of Hue. Its incredible location overlooking the Citadel and the Perfume River gives this resort its uniqueness embracing total serene tranquillity.
