Machu Picchu Trekking Shows The Best View

Machu Picchu Trekking Shows The Best View

by Andreas Paschar

There is a huge amount that demands to be seen in South America. The magnificent peaks of the Andes alone are worth visiting, while there are numerous historically significant ancient cities. Hikers can choose a Machu Picchu trekking tour to make the most of wonders of this continent which are so different to those at home.

Probably the most spectacular way of first encountering magnificent Machu Picchu is from the Inca trail crossing the rope bridge over the Urubamba river, just as the Incas did. Viewed like this its full splendor is immediately apparent. Unfortunately, this experience is only available to hikers, so many travelers miss this truly amazing experience.

It is easy to see why this is a world-class destination for tourists and is easily the best in Peru. Its designation as a World Heritage Site was a no-brainer, and it was even recently voted one of the Seven wonders of our world. A visit quickly makes it obvious that this is not mere hype, but is the true reality.

Despite its mountain-top situation, It enjoys a reasonably mild climate as its altitude is much lower than the ancient Inca capital of Cusco, which is fairly close. This makes it easier for hikers unaccustomed to the high altitudes prevalent here to breathe in comfort. Although there is no evidence in the structures of a military nature, it would have been extremely simple to defend if necessary, protected by the Urubamba river as it is.

The presence of mineral spring waters at Aguas Calientes on the fringes of the ancient city give a clue as to the reason for its establishment in this spot. These springs still have therapeutic value, and hikers can enjoy the luxury of a really relaxing rest here, while muscles have a chance to rid themselves of accumulated toxins and recover. Such springs have always had a special significance for people.

The city of Machu Picchu seems to have played a part in religious life, as well as being a lovely place for the ruler to relax. The state and religion were combined in the same organization, as has frequently been the case elsewhere. This is probably the reason why such a magnificent city was built, with such amazing results.

There is a lot else to be seen apart from this city of marvels. Beautiful hiking trails wind their way between picturesque mountain peaks and through magnificent forests. Viewing the country from this angle helps understand why the Incas never fully developed the wheel and built such long-lasting roads. This is a great reason to choose hike the countryside.

One of these Machu Picchu trekking tours is a perfect way to see the beauties of Peru and the South American jungles. An itinerary to suit your requirements can easily be set up for you to enjoy. Hiking is such a wonderful way to experience the scenic beauty of the terrain. With the effects of changing climates throughout the world and greater industrial efforts, this might not be available in the future: best see it now, while you still can.
