Las Vegas Excursions: Grand Canyon Bus Rides Through Christmas Holidays

Las Vegas Excursions: Grand Canyon Bus Rides Through Christmas Holidays

by Belinda Shields

Vegas is a great place to celebrate the Christmas holiday, and one thing you may not realize is that's it's close to the Grand Canyon too, at only 120 miles away. A bus tour to the National Park would be a great way to spend a day with the family. Tours go to both the South Rim and the West Rim, so if you book soon, you could have a Christmas holiday like no other.

Bus tours operate throughout the season, including Christmas Day itself, but they fill up fast, so book soon if you want to go over Christmas.

South Rim Bus Tours

Las Vegas is almost 300 miles from the South Rim, and the journey takes just over five hours. The South Rim is very beautiful, so these tours are in demand even though they are a long trip.

If you book this tour, you will go to Tusayan in Arizona. This is right beside the main gate at the National Park. You'll have about three hours there to take in the sights. Besides seeing Grand Canyon Village, you'll want to check out Yaki Point and Mather Point. The South Rim has a different look and pace than the West Rim, and you may enjoy the atmosphere here better.

West Rim Tours from Las Vegas

If you'd prefer a shorter ride, then you'll want to choose a West Rim bus trip since you can get there from Vegas in about 2 ? hours. You'll even get to see the massive Hoover Dam as your tour bus heads to the Canyon.

These tours are available in a basic or deluxe version. The tour comes with breakfast and all other fees included. An all-inclusive tour means you won't have any surprise charges in the middle of your trip.

You'll be given three hours to explore the West Rim on foot. There are several scenic trails to try and a couple of great lookouts like Eagle Point and Guano Point. The West Rim is the most popular destination at the Canyon, and one reason why is the Skywalk. You can add the tickets to your tour and walk on the glass bridge while you're suspended 4000 feet above the bottom of the Canyon and 70 feet past the rim. You should really try it if you plan a trip to the West Rim.

Another fun upgrade option is to book a helicopter ride. One of the helicopter options is to fly down to the Canyon floor where you can hop on a boat and tour the Colorado River. With so much to see and do, and being so close to Vegas, it's no wonder that the West Rim is so incredibly popular.

You Want To Book Early

Saying that these tours are popular, is no exaggeration. They often sell out, so you will need to get in early. If you want to see the Canyon for Christmas then you should book now. You can book online with your credit card, which will give you the best deal, and secure your seats. Remember to set a whole day aside to visit the Canyon on a bus tour.

The weather can be unpredictable this time of year, and since it can get cold, you want to dress in warm layers. It can even be snowy at the South Rim during the Christmas season, so check the weather forecast before you leave on your tour so you can dress appropriately.

Wrapping Up

Make this Christmas a special one. Book a scenic bus tour to the Canyon. You can go to the West Rim or the South Rim from Vegas, and either one is a good choice. Although the West Rim is a good destination for adventure and excitement, while the South Rim is best if you want to see nature's beauty. Decide soon and book your tour online so you'll be all set for a fun-filled Christmas break.
