Guide To Making Your Bear Tours Fun And Hassle Free

by Claudine Hodges

It is always fun to spend quality time with your loved ones. It is a popular means of recreation and relaxation. There are many things we can do to while together but among the best ways is to go out and do something unique from time to time.

If you are done with camping, diving and touring around the top caves and museums in your area, then do not fret. You still have several options left. Among these is the popular bear watching event. If you have been to Alaska, you must have heard about the Juneau bear tours catering the demand of those people who want to enjoy the activity.

Bear watching can be fun. But there is a high risks that comes with this activity as well. Remember that they are sensitive animals. They easily react to movements and immediately shift into predatorial mode when they see you as threats. More importantly, they are intelligent. So unless you want to have a problem dealing with these huge animals during one of your visits, be sure to remember the following things.

First, wear the proper attire. You do not go to a park or an aquarium. You go to somewhere remote and away from the city so be sure you are wearing the right clothing. As much as possible, avoid those clothing that will make your uncomfortable to move. Bring spare shirts just to be sure. If you are supposed to go to a mountainous area, bring hiking shoes. Do not forget your cap or jacket as well as the weather demands.

Second, place your foods somewhere safe. Do not just leave those snacks unattended on the driver or passenger seat. There is no guarantee that they will be safe from animal theft even if you lock the car windows. Keep in mind that bears have a strong sense of smell and are physically capable of breaking those glass windows. The best place to store your foods when you leave your vehicle is the trunk.

Third, refrain from being too friendly from them. This means that you should not act goody goody and get close to a bear. The recommended distance is 50 yards to 100 yards away. Closer than this, and you are already potentially at risk.

Do not run away. If you do encounter one at a very close situation, do not ever think of running. Even if your instincts tell you to do so, just do not. You will lose. They run faster than you do and if you run first, they will interpret this as fleeing and will most likely come after you.

Five, pack with you a bear spray. This works just like the pepper spray to humans. Use this in extremely desperate scenarios and not randomly. Besides, these materials may not be permitted by some commercial planes.

Make your watching experience memorable by being prepared. Make a list of the things you should bring with you and pack them ahead of time. If you come in big groups, be sure to remind each member of the things mentioned on this list.
