The most prominent tourist destination among the Islands of Archipelago is Langkawi. Apart from the fact that Langkawi is a duty free location, a very cheap option for people that love vacationing in Malaysia, there are beautiful attractions for people to see and enjoy. The two words 'eagle' and 'marble' are the root words from which Langkawi is coined. The two things first time visitors can not but noticed are the large deposit of marble stone which spread over a large area of the Island, and the presence of eagle, these two eventually gave the ideas for the name.

Langkawi though rich in ancient culture had lost most of the past heritage and history, but enough facts still point to the richness of the Island. 500AD was the year that the Chinese came to settle in the Island called Langkawi today, this is according to ancient Chinese records. Car, motorbike, and taxi are the means of transportation for tourists in Langkawi. Transportation business in Langkawi also extend to car hire where tourist can get cars of various brands at very cheap prices and cruise round the town visiting places of interest. Car hire cost between RM50 - RM120 for a day, this is the cheapest and the best option available.

For exploring deep inside the Island motorbike is the best option. The motorbike is for the risk takers, but it can be cheap too. Visitors can never be short of rental services on the Island. As a visitor you have to keep to the traffic law of the land when you are driving as many people can drive recklessly and cause accidents on the road. The roads of Langkawi are not all that good anyway. The Taxis are good touring machines to but the prohibitive price has made visitors not to look at it for their choice. Trips in Langkawi are a necessity costing between RM5 to RM10. Buying things in Langkawi is among the reasons why visitors are coming; the Island is also renowned for the quality products that are allowed to be sold there.

Kuah is the place where you will find most shopping centers in Langkawi, her you will find most of what you need to buy. Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall has over 100 retail store together in the same building to make it easier for visitors to get their desire met. Among the 100 retail stores, the one that stand out most is Billion Duty Free Department Store. With various duty free items that one can buy on the Islands you have many choices to pick from, but at the end you will go back with much more than you wanted to buy.

Additionally places like Langkawi Duty Free in Kuah also stocks duty free items. The shop is not big by any standard but boasts of real quality goods that you can buy at very cheap prices. A lot people that visit Saga will find the opportunity to buy duty free items too. Saga is in Kuah town and is easy to locate. You can join other visitors at Jetty Kuah and do your shopping there, you guarantee of seeing what you need as the number of shops has doubled now. Langkawi is not short of duty free items anywhere you choose to stay just visit the shops and you will get them to buy. Local arts and crafts also thrives on the island, you can also get them to buy. Shopping in Langkawi is among the various activities that visitors engage in and they enjoy doing.
