In the Yucatan Peninsula sits the Chichen Itza which was built by the Maya in the sixth century A.D is among the country's biggest tourist attractions.

Chichen Itza, is an archeological site in the Yucatan and the location for the ruins of the Maya buildings, such as temples and pyramids and among the new wonders of the World.They constructed their buildings based on a sober style, without ornaments, which you can see by visiting the ruins.

Then it was the Toltecs that erected the military buildings and who took Chichen Itza to oblivion and neglect.

Chichen Itza And What It Represents

The Pyramid of Kukulcan has a square base of fifty five meters and reaches up to twenty 24 meters; it is the main building in Chichen Itza.

The pyramid is likely the representation of the Mayan calendar. Having the meaning, "at the edge of the well with the Itza, the name Chichen Itza has Mayan roots. The Pyramid of Kukulcan is one of the essential archeological sites in the Peninsula of Yucatan, in the municipality of Tinum, in the State of Yucatan, made around the year 525 AD. During the end of the classic period, Chichen Itza turned out to be the most important political center of the region.

Scholars are convinced the primary buildings of Chichen Itza were damaged at the end of the eleventh century and later on renewed, because of its long suffering of violence between civilizations.

The sacred cenote was the Maya heart of religious activities and it measure 65 meters in diameter and 35 meters deep. The Mayans throw ceremonial offerings to the god of water, consisting mainly of gold pieces, core and fabric into the sacred cenote.

Chichen Itza was named among the new seven wonders of the modern world modern in the year 2007 To finish this article, we conclude that the Maya had a talent for architecture, as in their high time they created splendid structures only using the materials at their disposal at that time.

An evidence of their fantastic intellect and skill to build would be the fact the buildings are still in excellent condition while still delighting people today. Such structures are magnificent and wonderful that it was listed as a part of the new wonders of the world.
